Artist Statement

I am interested in showing the natural beauty of women in a sensual and respectful way.  My goal is to capture strong and confident women proud of who they are in moments of their own. What we all share is one common goal, the love of beautiful, palpable and meaningful images. I enjoy conjuring a certain style – sensual, tasteful slightly voyeuristic and graceful all at once.

I want my viewers to know I love photography more than anyone could ever imagine and know that I am in it for the right reasons.  I strive for organic and natural looking images. Too much make-up, elaborate clothing and the wrong surroundings and take away from the raw beauty that only these women can bring to the image. Comfortability, safety and trust are vital to create my photos, for the models and myself.

This is a collaborative process with the people that I shoot with where we share ideas, goals, and a common vision to create these images that are truly one of a kind.I work with light and on many occasions a lack thereof.  I believe that the photography part of things can be very simple, once you understand what you are trying to capture.

To allow you to view photography in such a way that you can remove the technical and focus on the psychology of people and the relationship between photographer and model. I believe in difference between strong natural body language vs posing. Natural movements that come from the model being in the moment and in tune with her mind and body. I do still enjoy studio work but I like to keep it simple, clean and efficacious without being too boring.

I want to create is beautiful photographs that show primarily women in their element – whether that is in the kitchen, bedroom, or outdoors, wearing mismatched lingerie (oftentimes whatever they had on under their clothes that day) or bare skin.I want to create naturally rich images of women you could easily run into at the grocery store.

It is those same wonderful, beautiful and intelligent women as themselves. No heavy make up. No restricting rules that limit the potential of beauty and art. Only a shared vision to create beautiful images we can be proud of.

Meeting new people and leaning their life stories and going random places to shoot is very  rewarding. I love it. Everyday feels like a new adventure and I don’t ever really know what I’m stepping into. It’s the exciting side of what I do and keeps the boredom away. I don’t have to worry about what I do going stale. Going somewhere new and meeting someone you have never met before has to have some natural flow it it if you are going to create something together. I feel this quote helps illustrate my vision as well.

“There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”

Essentially I want my images to honor and celebrate the beauty and strength of women in sensual but respectable and tasteful manner.
